The Color Chartreuse

Ask someone what color chartreuse is, and many will say a dark red or maroon. It is actually a distinct yellow-green. The confusion might come from the similar-sounding 'cabernet' or 'charcuterie', or confusion with the color puce. The liquor Chartreuse defines the color, yet the red/green confusion persists.
