About Schoolyard Myths

Welcome to Schoolyard Myths — the digital time capsule where we uncover the “facts” we all learned in school that didn’t quite stand the test of time. From science class surprises to pop culture misunderstandings, we bring forgotten lessons back into the light — this time, with the truth.

Our Mission

At Schoolyard Myths, we believe learning should evolve just like knowledge does. Our mission is to revisit the lessons and “truths” that shaped generations — and compare them with what research, history, and science actually say today. Whether you’re here to fact-check your favorite childhood myth or just feed your curiosity, we make learning feel fresh, nostalgic, and fun.

Why We Started

Every generation inherits a mix of facts and folklore. Maybe your teacher swore that you only use 10% of your brain, or that Napoleon was short, or that gum stays in your stomach for seven years. We started this project to track where these myths came from, why people believed them, and how our understanding has changed over time.

The more we researched, the more we realized: our classrooms tell us as much about our culture as our textbooks do. Schoolyard Mythsis our way of celebrating curiosity — and helping everyone see that being “wrong” is just the first step toward learning something new.
