It makes sense for a cartoon show to be called 'Looney Toons'. But it's actually 'Looney Tunes'. The series was originally produced to showcase Warner Bros.' music library (hence 'Merrie Melodies' and 'Looney Tunes'). Modern audiences, less focused on the musical origins, unconsciously correct the 'mistake' to match the content: cartoons.
