The Full Story:
If you scan a map of the United States, you can find a Z in Arizona, an X in Texas and New Mexico, a J in New Jersey, and plenty of Vs and Ks. However, the letter **Q** is completely absent from the names of all 50 states.
It is the only letter of the English alphabet to suffer this exclusion. While 'Q' appears in territories like Puerto Rico (which was acquired but is not a state), it never made the cut for the official list. It’s a favorite trivia fact for geographers and Scrabble players alike.
